Sorry, English isn’t my first language. And yes, I use AI. LOL.
I’ve been seeing a lot of people on social media shaming others for using AI in their posts, comments, and articles.
Is it really that obvious?
I mean, I get it. Some AI-generated content sounds too polished or robotic. But I wonder if these people ever consider that maybe the person using AI isn’t a professional writer? Or maybe English isn’t their first language?
Because that’s exactly my situation.
I consider myself a casual writer. I can speak and sound fluent in English without trying too hard. I can write in English without AI, too. Heck, I’ve been doing it even before AI was a thing!
It’s just that writing and editing are two different things.
Read my article: AI Makes Work Faster. But Not Always Better
I know what I want to say. I have my own thoughts, opinions, and experiences. But editing everything to make it fairly polished can be tiresome. Sometimes it takes me days just to finish one article.
And honestly, I don’t always have that kind of time anymore.
AI has been really helpful in making my writing clearer and more polished without spending days editing it myself.
And what’s so wrong with that?
I also wonder if shaming people makes others feel superior. Is that why they keep doing it?
Don’t they realize that some people have a lot on their plate? Maybe they’re running a business, working with clients, or just trying to complete one task after another.
Not everyone has the time to sit for hours trying to perfect a single article or even a simple comment.
And I’m sure some people aren’t using AI very well yet. They’re probably still experimenting and figuring things out. Just like how we all started learning something new at some point.
Of course, I understand why some people don’t like AI-generated content, especially when it’s obvious that someone didn’t even bother reading what they published.
But there’s a difference between using AI to do all the thinking for you and using it to help communicate something you’ve already thought about.
Personally, I don’t want to pretend to be a professional writer. I’m not one, and I don’t claim to be.
I just enjoy writing about things that interest me, sharing my experiences, and occasionally getting things off my chest. Like what I’m doing right now. LOL.
This is also one of the reasons I don’t enjoy being on social media most of the time. There’s just too much shaming, bashing, and people making fun of others for practically anything.
If it weren’t for work, I probably would have exited social media a long time ago and never looked back.
Anyway, I’m still going to use AI when I need it. I’m still learning how to use it better, too.
And if my writing sounds a little imperfect sometimes, that’s fine with me.
I’d rather sound like myself than pretend to be someone I’m not.
