Yesterday, I watched a YouTube video about Carrie Bradshaw without the men. Yes, apparently, there’s more to Carrie than Mr. Big and her questionable relationship decisions. LOL.
The video was basically about Carrie as a person, her writing career, and the life she built outside her relationships in Sex and the City.
I don’t know why, but watching it made me want to create more.
Write more blog posts, work on digital products, improve my website, and create things that could eventually turn into income.
Carrie is technically a freelancer. She’s a writer who gets paid for her column, and eventually, her writing opened more opportunities for her.
And it made me think about my own freelance career.
I’ve been freelancing for years now, and I have to admit that I’m privileged to be one of those people who managed to make it work. Even if I only consider myself successful in my own little way.
I get to work from home. I have skills that people are willing to pay for. I know how to build websites, work with digital tools, create systems, and figure things out when I need to.
Sometimes I forget that there was a time when this was something I wanted so badly.
And now that I already have it, I think I need to take advantage of it more.
One thing I realized is that maybe what I really want is not to become more visible online. I want to become more searchable.
I want to spend more time building things that people can find when they’re actually searching for something.
That’s one of the reasons I keep coming back to blogging.
A blog post can sit on my website for years. Someone could discover something I wrote months or even years after I published it. The same goes for digital products.
I like the idea that the things I create can continue to exist and potentially bring opportunities long after I’ve finished working on them.
Of course, Carrie Bradshaw is a fictional character. I’m not exactly planning to build my career around her lifestyle. I mean, have you seen her shoe collection? I can’t afford that. LOL.
But I like the idea behind it.
Okay, this is AI-generated. 😂 But I was having fun imagining myself as Carrie Bradshaw while writing this post. And this, ladies and gentlemen, is what happens when my imagination gets a little too carried away. LOL.
Anyway, going back…
Yes, Carrie has her work. She has her column. People know her because of the things she writes.
And I think that’s closer to what I want.
I want people to discover my website, read my thoughts, learn about what I do, and maybe eventually become clients or buy something I’ve created.
Most of all, I want to see what happens if I keep doing this for years instead of constantly changing direction whenever something isn’t growing fast enough.
This is day 2 of Blogtober. 😊
