Five most comforting TV shows to watch this pandemic

It’s been more than a year since the dreaded pandemic took place and we’re still not used to being confined and isolated in our house.

I know how you feel. With negative things happening in our world today, it’s understandable to feel frustrated, not knowing when we can go out without any restrictions. The best we can do right now is to accept what’s going on and watch some good shows to help us focus on the brighter side of life.

As a millennial, I want to de-stress and be comforted. So I made a list of the five most comforting TV shows that I like and that we all can enjoy:

1.) The Chosen – Available on Youtube and The Chosen app for free

The Chosen is a historical TV series depicting the life of Jesus Christ through the eyes of those who knew him. Directed by Dallas Jenkins, the series is currently amassing millions of viewers and fans around the world.

Though we already knew the story of Jesus from the Bible, the portrayal of the characters is very realistic to the point that people can easily relate.

2.) God Friended Me – Available on Amazon Prime

God Friended Me is a TV show centered around a guy named Miles Finer. Miles, who’s a podcaster, explicitly expressed his disbelief in God. One day, he received a friend request on a social networking site from a person named God. From there, his life started to change.

3.) 7th Heaven – Available on Hulu

Oldies but goodies! If you are a 90s kid, you must have heard of this show a million times. The series follows the Camden family throughout its 11 seasons. The story revolves around a minister dad and a stay-at-home mom navigating through life while dealing with their seven children.

What’s interesting about this show is how they navigated the realities of family life while helping other people. It’s nostalgic, and morally inclined, and it allows its viewers to reflect and do better with their own lives.

4.) The Good Place – Available on Netflix

Have you ever wondered where your soul is going to be after you die? What a creepy question, isn’t it? This series is about Eleanor, a deceased woman who lived a morally corrupt life and somehow found herself in the Good Place (heaven-like place). She knew it was a mistaken identity that she was there so, she tries to hide her past to stay in the Good Place.

5.) When Calls the Heart – Available on Amazon Prime and Netflix

Set in Western Canada, the series follows the story of Elizabeth Thatcher, a young teacher from a high-society family who was assigned to teach in a coal-mining town. Being in Coal Valley to teach young minds has been challenging for her due to their simple lifestyle. Since the people there recently faced a tragedy, Elizabeth wanted to help as long as she could.

I hope you found some good shows to binge on while staying at home. What other wholesome tv shows do you know? Let me know in the comments section.
